COURSE OF STUDY
The Cosmetology course at Paducah Beauty School is a well-round program covering all phases of cosmetology, preparing you for a career as a Professional Licensed Cosmetologist. Your training will emphasize a firm, basic knowledge of theory and practical skills needed for the development of an exciting career in cosmetology or a related field.
Paducah Beauty School has for many years been a popular place for men, women and children to receive professional hair care and skin care treatments. This will be the most important factor of your training because it affords you the opportunity to practice with proper instruction on many different individuals each week. Your skill and self confidence will build with this practice so that when you receive your license, you will have the training and knowledge you need to be assured of a successful career.
CURRICULUM
Our school uses the Milady's Standard Cosmetology textbook. During the 1800 hours of enrollment you will study the following subjects:
Part 1:
History of Cosmetology; Life Skills; Professional Image and Communicating for Success
Part 2:
Infection Control; Anatomy; Physiology; Chemistry and Electricity
Part 3:
Properties of Hair & Scalp; Principles of Hair Design; Shampooing, Rinsing & Conditioning; Haircutting; Hairstyling; Braiding; Wigs & Hair Enhancements; Chemical Texture Services and Haircoloring
Part 4:
Histology of Skin; Hair Removal; Facials and Facial Make-Up
Part 5:
Nail Growth & Structure; Manicuring; Pedicuring and Advanced Nail Techniques
Part 6:
Salon Business; Seeking Employment and Job Seeking
CLASSES
Due to the fact that State Board is interested in hours of training rather than days or weeks it is possible for a student to enroll and start on any day the school is open. New classes begin each month.
LENGTH OF COURSE
Our program is an 1800 hour course as required by Kentucky State Law. The students attend classes five days a week. Tuesday through Saturday for 36 1/2 hours pf training per week. The entire course takes approximately 11 1/2 months to complete the 1800 hours. Part-time schedules can be arranged witht he director if you are unable to attend on a full-time basis.
RULES AND POLICIES ON ATTENDANCE
The school will be open Tuesday through Saturday with the exception of holidays.
A period of 30 minutes is allowed for lunch. Thre are several restaurants within walking distance or, if you prefer to bring your lunch, the school has a microwave and refrigerator available.
Students are to wear white shirts and black pants or capri pants and black shoes as required by state law.
Classes are 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Tuesday through Friday and 7:30 A.M. to Noon on Saturday. The school is closed on Sunday and Monday.
